Rent's Due: How To Make It In America

HBO turns out the hits, especially from my point of view. I love me some Sex and the City,Big Love was an unexpected hit, and now, How to Make it in America. I believe last night was the third episode of the premier season. The show is all about two guys in New York City trying to make it big in the fashion industry, primarily with premium denim. Could the show be any more tailored for me - pun most definitely intended?!
Mark Wahlberg is a producer and how can you go wrong with him behind a project? He may be quite cheesy in some of his roles, but the things he has produced have been pretty freaking brilliant. Aside from that, Kate Hudson's brother in Bride Wars is one of the lead struggling designers (gorgeous!). An his love interest is Blake Bell. I LOVE Blake Bells' character! She is blunt, determined, and sarcastic - and I could totally relate to her in last night's episode.
The most intriguing aspect of this show is the fact that these are two young men that you would never suspect of being interested in setting foot in the fashion industry. Granted, they are just attempting to launch a denim line; nothing couture.
My favorite part of this new show is that it is unexpected in many different ways. It is very entertaining, and at the end of the day, it is about fashion! So tune in, Sundays on HBO at 10:00pm for new episodes of How to Make it in America.
